Robert A. Frosch

Robert A. Frosch advises on corporate R&D management projects.
Dr. Frosch was Vice President of General Motors Corporation (GM) in charge of Research Laboratories. Prior to joining GM, Dr. Frosch served as Administrator of NASA; Associate Director for Applied Oceanography, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution; Assistant Executive Director, United Nations Environment Programme; and Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy, Research and Development. Dr. Frosch began his professional career at the Hudson Laboratories at Columbia University and served first as Director for Nuclear Test Detection and then Deputy Director, Advanced Research Projects Agency. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Dr. Frosch is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, a foreign member of the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Acoustical Society of America, the American Astronautical Society, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has been awarded several honorary doctorates, the NASA Distinguished Service Medal (1981), and the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award (1969).
Dr. Frosch earned an A.B. from Columbia College, Columbia University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University in theoretical physics.
