Hunt Williams advises on academic and research program development, innovation strategies, and venture-backed enterprises.
Dr. Williams is the former president of Merit Network, Inc., the research and education network that developed and managed the NSFNET, America’s first high-speed Internet backbone. While at Merit he worked with Governor John Engler and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation on the legislation that created the Michigan Broadband Development Authority and the Michigan Information Technology Center for Merit and Internet. Dr. Williams previously served as the CEO of Community of Science Inc., a Johns Hopkins spin-off company that matched researchers with funding opportunities on the World Wide Web. He has worked as a strategy consultant in the fields of biotechnology and media and held executive positions at American Broadcasting Companies and the Gannett Center for Media Studies in New York.
Dr. Williams earned a B.A. at Yale College and a D.Phil. at Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.
