Michael Rosenblatt, M.D. named Dean of the Tufts University School of Medicine
Michael Rosenblatt, M.D. has been named as the new Dean of the Tufts University School of Medicine effective November 1. He will also have oversight of the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. President Lawrence S. Bacow cited Dr. Rosenblatt's "impeccable research and scholarly credentials" in announcing his appointment.  Dr. Rosenblatt will temporarily assume an inactive role in the activities of The Washington Advisory Group as he responds to the demands of his new position at Tufts.


The Washington Advisory Group Selected to Study University of Texas Institutions
The University System of Texas has selected The Washington Advisory Group to conduct a study of eight of its institutions with the goal of strengthening their research capabilities.  In its press release issued July 7, 2003, Chancellor Mark Yudof indicated “This study will lay the groundwork for major advancements in the research programs at institutions throughout the U.T. System.” 


The Washington Advisory Group to Evaluate the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse
The Washington Advisory Group has been engaged by the Pennsylvania Economy League to advise the Heinz Endowments and the Richard King Mellon and McCune Foundations in connection with their commitment to provide substantial support to the Pittsburgh BioVenture/Life Sciences Greenhouse.  The Washington Advisory Group will advise these organizations on their investments in Life Sciences Greenhouse over the course of the five-year effort and help the Foundations assess the economic impact of their investments.


Erich Bloch Becomes Fellow in The Institution of Engineers of Ireland
Erich Bloch has accepted the invitation of the President of The Institution of Engineers of Ireland (IEI) to become a Fellow of the Institution.  IEI, founded in 1835, is the professional and learned body for the engineering profession in Ireland.  Mr. Bloch’s invitation came in recognition of his distinguished career as an engineer and of his significant contributions to the engineering profession in the United States.  As a member of the Board of Science Foundation Ireland, Mr. Bloch has also made significant contributions to the future of science and engineering in Ireland.
